Miami Officer Kicks and Applies Bodily Force to Cuffed Suspect

Miami police officer Mario Figuerroa was suspended from service with pay Thursday after a video surfaced in which he was recorded kicking a cuffed auto theft suspect in the head. The incident depicted the officer running in to kick the suspect after the second cuff was secured and he then dove on the suspect’s head, even though the suspect was already under control. Additional officers at the scene have claimed that the suspect took a fighting stance and was not deterred with the application of a stun gun, but Police Chief Jorge Colina has stated that the action taken by Figuerroa was a clear violation of policy.
